How do I change my Digest Email frequency?
The Digest Email frequency is set on the Site Settings tab, Settings sub tab. At the bottom of the General Settings section, look for an option titled Digest Frequency. Use the drop down selector to choose a frequency for your digest e-mails. Your options are:
- No-Digest. When this is selected, the Digest Email will be disabled, and e-mails will be sent directly as soon as you approve them.
- Monthly. When this is selected, the Digest Email will be enabled, and a digest of approved items will be sent by e-mail on a monthly basis.
- Bi-Monthly. When this is selected, the Digest Email will be enabled, and a digest of approved items will be sent by e-mail on a bi-monthly basis.
- Weekly. When this is selected, the Digest Email will be enabled, and a digest of approved items will be sent by e-mail on a weekly basis.
When you change your digest settings, be sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the page to ensure your new digest frequency is saved.
Beneath the Digest Frequency option, you see two more lines. The first shows the digest hostname, or the server from which the digest e-mail will be sent. To avoid triggering SPAM warnings, your e-mail address domain should match the hostname domain. So, if your digest hostname is hosted by mission.net, and the digest hostname begins with http://mission.net/, then your e-mail address should be a mission.net e-mail. If you have questions about setting up at mission.net e-mail address, contact a member of the SIB Admin team. The second line shows the date the last digest was sent.
For information on managing items sent in a digest, see the Site Management FAQ.
How do I locate the ZIP/Country Code for the Weather Module?
Go to http://www.weather.com site and follow the instructions on the site to locate your city. Once you have located the city, look at the URL of the page - it should look something like: http://www.weather.com/weather/local/85233 -- This is for U.S. zip codes (where 85233 is the zip code in this example)
http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/local/TWXX0021 -- This is for International Codes (where TWXX0021 would be the country code we are interested in)
Copy the zip code, or country code from the URL - this is the text after the final forward slash "/" and enter it back into the Zip/Country Code field at your Weather Settings section.
Is there an option to list more than one place in Weather??
You can set up a custom page, call it "Weather", and put weather for as many locations as you would like on it.
How can I tell how many visitors are coming to my site?
Login as Admin, click on Site Settings, click on Settings and check mark Display Counter.
How do I turn off double displays of 'Reunions', 'What's New' or 'Just called'?
Login as Admin, go to Site Settings, then go to Settings. Under the section Front Page Settings, select NO for "Show Reunions", select NO for "What's New" and select NO for "Show New Calls." I know it sounds weird to turn it off, but doing so will eliminate the second item from displaying.
How do I turn on/off record counts in the navigation menu?
Login as Admin, go to Site Settings, then go to Settings. Under the section General Settings, select YES/NO for Display Counts in Menu. When finished selecting, click the Save button at the bottom of the page.
Do I have to use all the modules?
No, you do not have to use all of the modules that come packaged with SIB. In fact, the only required modules are Home and Alumni. If you decide that you want to disable any other module, use the following procedure:
- Log in to the Admin area of your SIB site.
- Navigate to the Site Settings tab. By default you should be directed to the Preferences sub-tab.
- In the Modules section of the page, deselect the check box(es) next to the module(s) that you wish to disable.
- Click the Save button near the bottom of the page.
